Which literary quarterlies or periodicals do you read? I am in Canada and am only familiar with our publications, any suggestions for good poetry journals?
I usually read The Fiddlehead, skim Descant, and flip through a few other journals.

Thu, April 20, 2006 - 7:08 AMNobody reads quarterlies? Come ooonnn. OK, shamelessly plugging myself then, check out the current issue of The Fiddlehead if you can, where I do a 'cover' poem of Steven's "Motive for Metaphor" -

Thu, April 20, 2006 - 12:21 PMCongratulations! Don't think I've ever seen Fiddlehead here in Southern California (the fern or the periodical!) but I'll keep an eye out for it.

Re: Quarterlies, Periodicals?
Thu, April 20, 2006 - 12:01 PMI like Circumference:Poetry in Translation www.circumferencemag.com/NewSi...t.html (this link should get you by the obnoxious Quicktime intro page). This, along with The World (the journal of the Poetry Project at St Marks Church: www.poetryproject.com/ , is one of the few "hard copy" journals I regularly buy-since both are published around once a year, it's not too difficult to stay current with them ;-). I've also bought Eye Rhyme in the past, as a friend was featured in that magazine.
With so many interesting periodicals converting to internet only or a joint paper and virtual presence, I've come to use the internet for my periodical fix. Here are a few cyber-journals that I like:
Drunken Boat: www.drunkenboat.com
eratio: www.eratiopostmodernpoetry.com/
Green Integer Review: www.greeninteger.com/green_i..._review/ This is the mini-journal associated with Green Integer Press. It's not solely poetry, but what poetry they do publish is always interesting, often newly translated or long out of print, and generally exciting. Green Integer is one of my favorite publishers.
Free Verse: english.chass.ncsu.edu/freeve...ex.html
Cipher Journal: www.cipherjournal.com/html/home.html
Masthead: www.masthead.net.au/home.html This was originally founded by Australian poet, Alison Croggon as a print journal, but is now an annual online-only publication. It's wonderfully eclectic and intelligent and one of my absolute favorites. Highly recommended!
Milk Magazine: www.milkmag.org/index1.htm It's not all poetry, it's not all available online, but everything that is online is pretty damn good.
Finally, you may want to check out Web DelSol: webdelsol.com/ It's a "portal" more than a publication, I guess and it's initially rather overwhelming, but I've spent many a happy hour browsing through its links since I first discovered it.
Happy reading!
